Iranian police have launched a more extensive crackdown on 'social corruption' according to the Farhang-e Ashti newspaper, confronting individuals who appear in public dressed in an indecent way and shutting shops selling un-Islamic dress. Current regulations in Iran - which were first implemented following the 1979 Revolution - order that all women cover all their hair and wear long, loose-fitting clothes, and under the new crackdown women contravening these rules could face lashes, fines or imprisonment.
