European Investment Bank To Aid Madagascar's Hydropower Expansion With US$38mn Loan

The European Investment Bank is to lend US$38mn to Madagascar for the expansion of its hydropower capacity. The country has faced power shortages since 2006, as its diesel-fuelled power sector becomes too costly to run. Madagascar now has plans in place to diversify its power infrastructure towards using its hydropower potential.
