Last Chance For Election Bill
June 2008 | Ratings UpdateThe parliament of Sudan will on June 29 review a draft election law ahead of polls scheduled for 2009. The law is one of many which must be changed in order to conform with the new democratic constitution created in the aftermath of the 2005 North-South peace deal. Several of the most important laws have been delayed and parliament has only one more sitting scheduled before the election. Once the electoral law is passed, an electoral commission must be formed within one month and prepare for the vote.
