Yemen

The Chinese Vice-President Xi Jinping visited Yemen in June on a trip aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries. Xi talked of encouraging Chinese companies to invest in Yemen, and of stepping up cooperation in infrastructure development, and in the energy and telecoms sectors. Yemen is likely to benefit from a number of construction projects built with Chinese aid, with the recently completed foreign ministry building, for which China covered 70% of the US$5mn cost, a case in point.
