Macroeconomic Forecast Zambia

July 2008 | Macroeconomic Forecasts

With metal prices having been elevated over H108, we are forecasting a rise in export proceeds to US$4.0bn, up from US$3.8bn in 2007. Thereafter we expect prices to fall, and correspondingly forecast a slight drop in revenues to US$3.9bn in 2009. With imports forecast to rise over the entire period, we see the country's trade balance surplus withering from a high of US$1.2bn in 2006 to a US$40mn deficit in 2009.
