Tantalite Exploration Disappoints
July 2008 | Ratings UpdateSweden-based exploration firm International Gold Exploration (IGE) has halted work on its Kabarore Colombo tantalite project in Burundi, after an evaluation study suggested the project was not economically viable. The company said in a statement that 'despite an average grade of 101 g/t Ta2O5 in the ore, physical characteristics of the ore resulted in only a 50% recovery, which at present technical and market conditions made the project uneconomic'.
