On The Road To Recovery?
July 2008 | Ratings UpdateThe ongoing threats to political stability in Guinea are clearly reflected in our political risk ratings. Due to the potential for further violent protests, fuelled by high unemployment and surging inflation, and the possibility of unconstitutional change, the country's short-term political risk rating stands at only 46.7 (out of 100), representing the fifth lowest in sub-Saharan Africa. With 36.4, Guinea's long-term score is even weaker, thanks to a lack of functioning democratic institutions, high levels of inequality and ongoing risks to policy continuity.
