Diplomatic Visits Boost Rating
August 2008 | Political Risk AlertIn the light of the visits to Baghdad by Turkey's Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan in July, King Abdullah of Jordan earlier this month, and now by Lebanon's Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, we have revised our short-term political risk rating for Iraq upwards, from 30.6 to 31.5. This upgrade is a reflection of Iraq's improving regional profile. In addition, both the UAE and Kuwait have recently appointed ambassadors to Baghdad, although these envoys have as yet not taken up their positions, and a number of other Middle Eastern states have pledged to do likewise over the coming months.
