First Arab Envoy, More To Come Soon

The news that the UAE's ambassador to Iraq, Abdullah Ibrahim al-Shehi, has today (September 10) arrived in Baghdad could encourage the other Arab states who have recently appointed envoys to Iraq - Jordan, Kuwait, and most recently, Bahrain - to similarly send their representatives to Baghdad in the near future. This development is another welcome sign of Iraq's blossoming regional profile - we recently upgraded this component of our short-term political risk ratings from four to five out of 10. The UAE becomes the first Sunni Arab state to have an ambassador in Iraq since the Egyptian representative was kidnapped
