Spotlight On Divided Druze Community After Assassination

The assassination of senior Lebanese Democratic Party politburo member Saleh al-Aridi last night is remarkable not for the fact that it happened - car bombings targeting politicians are unfortunately all too familiar in Lebanon - but for the fact that its victim was not a prominent anti-Syrian figure, but a supporter of the March 8 opposition coalition. We reiterate our view that violence is likely to rise in the run-up to elections.
