Aswan Abduction: Another Negative Security Development

Fifteen tourists have apparently been abducted in Aswan, in southern Egypt and possibly taken south across the border to Sudan, in a development that will renew old negative perceptions of the country as a tourist and investment destination. Tourism Minister Zoheir Garrana has sais that the group consisted of five Germans, five Italians, one Romanian and four Egyptians, and described the incident as 'a gang act (by) masked men'. He said talks were under way on a ransom to release the hostages, which Egyptian state television said included an Egyptian border guard
