September 2008 | Ratings UpdatePrime Minister Navin Ramgoolam has nominated Mauritian President Anerood Jugnauth for a second term as the ceremonial head of state, a move unanimously confirmed by the national assembly on September 19. The move is notable, as Jugnauth is the founder of the opposition Militant Socialist Movement (MSM) and was appointed to his first term as president in 2003 by Ramgoolam's chief rival, then Prime Minister Paul Bérenger.
