Land Corruption Case Gets Messier
September 2008 | Ratings UpdateThe parliamentary investigation into the National Social Security Fund's controversial purchase of land from Security Minister Amama Mbabazi and business partner Amos Nzeyi is becoming increasingly disorderly. The committee's chairman, MP for Erute South, John Odit, has been relieved of the post on concerns over his impartiality and a number of politicians have also commented publicly on the matter while evidence is still being compiled, thereby risking the integrity of the investigation. Furthermore, an intelligence operative from the Internal Security Organisation, has been suspended from the agency over allegations that his call for Mbabazi to be punished 'ruthless[ly]' is 'prejudicial' to internal security.
