Reformer's Resignation Won't Impact Stability
September 2008 | Political Risk AlertJordan is a fairly stable state, as reflected by our short-term and long-term political risk ratings of 69.2 and 69.6 respectively, and the news that King Abdullah's most senior aide, Bassem Awadallah, resigned on Monday (September 29) does not change our outlook to the extent that we need to alter these ratings. In fact, Awadallah's pro-reform views mean that if anything, short-term stability could be enhanced by his resignation, albeit at a potential economic cost.
