Refinery Dispute Rumbles On
September 2008 | Political Risk AlertThe dispute between the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) on one side and MPs and unionists on the other continues to cloud the outlook for foreign investment. If the deal does not go through it could do some serious damage to the already tarnished reputation of Kuwait's business environment. This is not implausible: Project Kuwait is still awaiting approval over a decade after it was first proposed. On the plus side, both issues demonstrate Kuwait's democratic credentials and open political scene.
