We forecast that Cameroon's external debt burden will amount to 9.2% of GDP (US$2.2bn) in 2008. Despite the country's low debt levels, Cameroon maintains a relatively modest C score in our proprietary Sovereign Risk Ratings. This is because aside from rising fiscal expenditure, the ongoing pressures on the country's current account balance create uncertainty over the country's credit profile.
