Regional Union Idea Unlikely To Materialise, Short-Term
October 2008 | Political Risk AlertBahrain's foreign minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed al-Khalifa has said that all Middle Eastern states 'without exception' should form a regional organisation 'even if we don't recognise each other'. Asked by the newspaper al-Hayat whether he meant Israel, he replied 'with Israel, Turkey, Iran and Arab countries'. This was 'the only path to solve our problems', he said, and would help the Middle East to 'overcome this difficult
