Stronger Ties To UN To Boost Case For Eventual Independence?
October 2008 | Political Risk AlertIn many ways the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) already functions as a de-facto independent state, and so we note with interest that in a radio interview on Tuesday (October 7), Dindar Zebari, the KRG's coordinator for UN affairs, said that a strategic agreement will shortly be signed between the KRG and the UN for co-operation in a number of fields. The agreement will aim to help the KRG in the spheres of health, agriculture and education over the coming three years. What is noteworthy about this development is that by dealing with the KRG directly, the UN is in effect
