Still Sceptical On Diplomatic Progress
October 2008 | Political Risk AlertWe are somewhat sceptical of the significance of the newly established diplomatic representation between Syria and Lebanon. True, it marks a change from the Syrian policy of the last two decades, and the establishment of embassies is a clear demarcation of two distinct nations. In addition, the decision lays the groundwork for 'further constructive dialogue that will bring mutual benefits to both countries and help ensure stability and progress in their bilateral relations', as UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon out it.
