Saudi Arabia has announced it is to try 991 people on charges of terrorism related to 30 attacks which, according to Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz, killed 90 Saudi and foreign civilians, and 74 members of the Saudi security forces since 2003. Although the media are talking about 'more than five years of deadly Islamist violence', we would point out that there has not been a major terrorist attack for over two years (although four French nationals were shot dead in the Medina area in February 2007), and that the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, while reminding travellers
