Gulf Sukuk: Still Bearish

Recently released figures from the Islamic Finance Information Service (IFIS) concerning global sukuk issuance clearly illustrate our long-held view that the market is not favourable to borrowers at present. According to the IFIS, global issuance in Q308 amounted to just US$3.21bn, down over 70% from the comparable Q307 figure of US$11.34bn.
