October 2008 | Macroeconomic ForecastsAlthough Jordan runs large trade deficits - which we expect to come in at US$7.2bn in 2008 (39.0% of GDP), and US$7.1bn in 2009 (33.7% of GDP) - sizeable current transfers, primarily in the form of remittances from Jordanians working in the Gulf and other Arab states, have traditionally supported the current account.
