October 2008 | Ratings UpdateEgyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif arrived in Tunisia on October 22 for a visit aimed at boosting diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries. Nazif was due to hold talks with his Tunisian opposite number, Mohamed Ghannouchi and other senior government officials. A key theme for the visit was the current global economic crisis and ways in which regional trade could be boosted in North Africa. Despite regional groupings such as the Arab Maghreb Union, trade ties between Tunisia and its neighbours remain weak, with the former conducting most of its business with Europe.
