Banking Sector To Survive Ongoing Headwinds
October 2008 | Economic AnalysisBMI View: Kenya's banking sector is set to suffer somewhat amid current macroeconomic headwinds, and we see scope for an increase in non-performing loans. Nevertheless, our outlook is positive for the medium-to-long term. Growth should be driven by increasing demand for financial services, a government-led drive to boost savings, and financial innovation including the extension of mobile banking and Shari'a-compliant products.
