Macroeconomic Forecast Tanzania

October 2008 | Macroeconomic Forecasts

BMI View: We now see Tanzania's current account deficit stretching to 14.1% of GDP in 2008, up from a previous forecast of 10.0%, primarily because tourism receipts in H208 are likely to be down and the outlook for remittances and international aid has worsened. We caution that current transfers are relatively difficult to forecast, and should inflows return to more typical levels, the deficit could narrow to approximately 11.5% of GDP.
