BMI View: We remain very confident that Botswana can weather the global economic storm. We expect real GDP growth of 4.8% and 5.1% for 2008 and 2009, respectively, with the main driver remaining investment. The 'credit crunch' might impact on some marginal FDI projects, but most of Botswana's schemes are extremely attractive because of the rich mineral reserves available, and, in any case, mining is a long term play.
