Good Governance Winner
October 2008 | Ratings UpdateOnce again, Mauritius has topped the Mo Ibrahim Index of African Governance, coming first with a score of 85.1 out of 100.0 in 2008, down from 86.2 in 2007. The country scores best in the 'Participation and Human Rights', 'Sustainable Economic Opportunity' and 'Human Development' components of the score, where it is ranked first. The country's worst score is in the 'Safety and Security' component, where it is ranked sixth, though with a high score of 91.7 out of 100.0. The score echoes our political risk ratings, for which Mauritius has the highest short- and long-term ratings in sub-Saharan Africa.
