South Africa Recognises Saharan Republic

South Africa has established diplomatic ties with the Saharan Arab Democratic Republic, which claims to govern the disputed territory of Western Sahara, also claimed by Morocco. BMI View: Pretoria’s decision could have some impact on the issue of Saharan self-determination if it influences other states, especially those that are allies and trade partners of the Kingdom.
