Under the amnesty law which came into force at the end of February, two leading Islamists have been released from prison. Deputy Chief of the Islamic Salvation Front (FIS) Ali Belhadj was released on March 6, after being rearrested in July 2005 for praising the anti-US insurgency in Iraq.
