Loan Growth Risks To Stability

While we do not see the Qatari banking sector facing imminent crisis, there are growing warning signs that local banks are over-extending themselves just as the impact of the deteriorating global macro-economy looks set to hit the emirate. The November 2008 Banks Monthly Statement published by the Qatar Central Bank shows that bank lending once more increased sharply in November, growing by 6.2% m-o-m.
