Gulf Sukuk: Issuance To Remain Subdued For Now

Recently released figures from the Islamic Finance Information Service (IFIS) concerning global sukuk issuance clearly illustrate our long-held view that the market is not favourable to borrowers at present. According to the IFIS, global sukuk issuance totalled US$15.77bn in 2008, down from US$46.65bn in 2007, and also significantly below the 2006 level of around US$25bn.
