Qatar

In response to the conflict in Gaza, Qatar hosted a summit in Doha on January 16 which brought together 13 of the Arab League's 22 members, as well as Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and various Hamas leaders. With public opinion fiercely opposed to Israel's actions in Gaza, Doha has also frozen its diplomatic relations with Israel. Having played a key role in helping to secure last May's Doha Agreement that has brought a measure of peace and stability to Lebanon, and along with its efforts to assemble peace talks between the Sudanese government and the Darfur rebel movement, Qatar continues
