Inflation Remaining Subdued Through 2009

The fall in Qatar's consumer price index (CPI) over the past few months illustrates that the transition from a climate of high inflation to one of deflation has occurred extremely sharply, and going forward, we expect price pressures to remain subdued through 2009. The Qatar Statistics Authority (QSA)'s recently released data show that the CPI fell by 7.3% in January compared with Q408 and dropped another 2.6% in the following two months.
