A ruling by a Moroccan administrative court that the election of Marrakech mayor Fatima Zahra Mansouri should be declared null and void has caused controversy in the city. After a probe, the court concluded that the result of the June local election was rigged as ballots were distributed before the legal date and some vote records were destroyed. Mansouri's Party for Authenticity and Modernity (PAM), which took the largest number of seats in the local elections, called for a 48-hour strike to protest against the court's ruling.
