Mauritius has said it will expel 6,000 male Bangladeshis from its shores by the end of 2009, supposedly to help bring down Mauritian unemployment in the hard-hit textile industry (where 4,000 of the Bangladeshi workers are employed). The government has given no official reason for the expulsion, merely stating 'it is a government decision. We are going to ensure that they receive all their dues before leaving.'
