August 2009 | Risk SummaryA recent study by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs shows that women are still failing to break through into senior civil service roles. 'Women's representation in top jobs was only concentrated in the ministries and departments concerned with the social affairs including health and education. But they were not represented in those dealing with politics and economy,' the report stated. Moreover, Qatari women have thus far failed to make to ambassador-level post. All this is despite the fact that women have outnumbered men at Qatar University by over two to one since at least 1999.
