UN Delivers Supplies To Stranded Angolans

Following the expulsion of thousands of Angolans from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in October, the United Nations has rushed to deliver relief items including tents, blankets, and prefabricated warehouses. According to Angolan authorities, around 50,000 citizens who had previously been given refugee status in DRC were summarily expelled, many prohibited from even collecting their personal effects. However, it would seem that the forced repatriation of Angolans was in response to earlier expulsions of Congolese from Angola; figures from the UN Office for Coordination of Human Affairs (OCHA) show that around 160,000 Congolese have been forced out of Angola since December 2008.
