Against the backdrop of a global economic recovery, the macroeconomic prospects for Jordan, Lebanon and Syria are improving, although the Dubai World 'default' has dented the outlook for the Gulf somewhat, and could hit confidence more locally too. Moreover, the region remains as politically eventful as ever.
