Refugee Resettlement Making Progress

In an effort to expedite the repatriation of Congolese refugees living in Burundi, a delegation of officials from Bujumbura travelled to Kinshasa in December to meet their Congolese counterparts. With the oversight of the UNHCR, the delegation hoped to formalise an agreement between their two interior ministries on the voluntary resettlement of refugees living in the Gihinga camp in Mwaro province. According to figures released by the national refugees commission in DRC, a total of 34,000 Congolese refugees are currently living in Burundi.
