Relations With Rwanda On The Mend
December 2009 | Ratings UpdateIn a sign of thawing relations between Kinshasa and Kigali, officials from the DRC and Rwanda met for the first time in 21 years under the Joint Permanent Commission. Among other things, the two delegations discussed matters relating to security and economic cooperation. With respect to the former issue, both parties agreed on the need to stop the activities of the FDLR (Forces démocratiques de liberation du Rwanda) in eastern Congo. On the topic of economic cooperation, it was agreed that delegation of Congolese officials would soon visit Rwanda to study its recent business environment reforms.
