January 2010 | Ratings UpdateTwo Swiss businessmen, Rachid Hamdani and Max Goeldi, who had been detained in Libya since July 2008, were sentenced to 16 months in prison for immigration offences in December 2009. In addition, the pair are now facing further trials on charges of illegal economic activity. Goeldi and Hamdani were detained after the arrest of Libyan leader Muammar Qadhafi's son in Switzerland in 2008. The Swiss widely believe the charges are trumped up.
