The government has reportedly forced two newspapers owned by the al-Ghad media group to suspend publication. The move follows the forced takeover of a television station owned by the same company in April 2009, which suggests that it may be part of a wider campaign to silence regime-critical media. Al-Ghad is affiliated with the reformist camp led by Colonel Qadhafi's son Saif al-Islam and has voiced allegations of official corruption and made demands for reform.
