Mine Nationalisation?

President Jacob Zuma commented in mid-February that nationalisation of mines and other economic sectors is not a government policy. Zuma's statement came after the ruling African National Congress's (ANC) militant Youth League called for the nationalisation of mines, proposing that the state should own at least 60% of all mining assets in South Africa. Zuma added that while the government could not prevent ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema and other political formations from debating nationalisation, it was not on the government's agenda.
