Diamond Production To Resume
April 2010 | Ratings UpdateAngola's state-run diamond firm Endiama announced in April that it would resume production at three of its domestic mines. Although it did not provide many details, the company's chief executive Carlos Sumbula confirmed that the three mines in question were Lucapa, Chinge and Capenda-Camulemba. Diamond prices fell sharply during the global recession of 2008 and 2009 but prices have begun to recover in line with global demand. According to data published by PolishedPrices , the price (per carat) has risen from a low of US$95.00 in March 2009 to US$122.37 in April 2010.
