Drafting Up Democracy

Kenya's Attorney General released a new draft constitution in early May, 2010. We feel that the draft document - which proposes the introduction of regional governments for each region, a new parliamentary system consisting of a National Assembly and a Senate, a directly elected State President, and limits to executive power and office terms - will, if adopted, improve the country's long term growth prospects by reducing corruption and political risk stemming from tribal tensions.
