June 2010 | Risk SummaryThe results of the last round of municipal elections on May 30 in northern Lebanon are broadly similar to the June 2009 parliamentary elections, albeit with some exceptions in the Akkar and Koura districts which illustrate the ongoing misfortunes of the majority March 14 coalition. In Koura, the March 8 alliance took 12 towns, with the Lebanese Forces winning four. Meanwhile, a coalition of Sunni opposition parties, backed by the Free Patriotic Movement, won the Akkar capital of Halba from the Future Movement.
