Central Bank Rebranding Bodes Ill For Policy

We see the new law downgrading the status of the central bank as further evidence of economic and political power being centralised in Luanda. The move is likely to strain relations with the IMF, and we do not discount the possibility that the 2009 Stand-By Arrangement will end prematurely.
