Cameroon potentially faces a period of instability in the lead up to presidential elections scheduled for late 2011, according to a report by the International Crisis Group. While President Paul Biya is widely expected to extend his 28 year presidency, various contenders within the ruling party are likely to jostle to be in the best position to succeed him when he does eventually step aside.
