Cutting Down Tourist Appeal

President Andry Rajoelina has shown no signs of easing his grip on power. His reshuffling of cabinet, which gave five new military officials cabinet positions, did little to create a more neutral government. Seven of the thirty two ministers are now senior military officials. Rajoelina is also avoiding any concessions towards a power sharing agreement with the ousted president, Marc Ravalomanana. We expect a continuation of authoritarian leadership by Rajoelina, and the ebb of donor aid and private investment that has accompanied it.
