Cutting Down Tourist Appeal
June 2010 | Ratings UpdatePresident Andry Rajoelina has shown no signs of easing his grip on power. His reshuffling of cabinet, which gave five new military officials cabinet positions, did little to create a more neutral government. Seven of the thirty two ministers are now senior military officials. Rajoelina is also avoiding any concessions towards a power sharing agreement with the ousted president, Marc Ravalomanana. We expect a continuation of authoritarian leadership by Rajoelina, and the ebb of donor aid and private investment that has accompanied it.
