Macroeconomic Forecast Surge In Investment To Strengthen Kwacha

We expect to see an appreciation of the Zambian kwacha against the US dollar to about ZMK4,500 by the end of H210. A number of infrastructure, power and mining projects funded by foreign direct investment are set to commence in 2010, which will put upward pressure on the kwacha, while demand for US dollars is set to remain weak given the bleak macroeconomic outlook for H210.
